The purple carrots from Kindred in this week's hilbarn box aren't exactly royal but the colour purple is (apparently because only the rich could afford the rare dye originally used to produce it). Not that we're making a pro-monarchy statement, but 60 years doing the same job is pretty good in our book, so we decided to give a nod and a nudge to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee pageant celebrations that turned 7 miles of the river Thames into a pale imitation of Sydney Harbour on Boxing Day.
