Fruity Winter

At this time of the year, when the outside temperature is colder than the cool room, making it feel warm when you walk inside, cheerfulness can be found in the colour of freshly picked lemons, ripening in winter. The same can be said of kiwifruit, saved from the birds in a backyard garden in Launceston. We've helped pick kiwifruit from the same two vines for three years running, and thank Joanne for letting us know when they're ready again. We only see her once a year, when she calls to let us know the fruit are ready. It's one of the joys of the season: tasting the cleansing taste of tropical-looking fruit on a chilly  morning while catching up on Joanne's news.
